Good News

Yesterday we collected our youngest daughter Astrid, from hospital, after having had laser treatment to remove a large kidney stone, which was embedded in her left kidney.
Had the procedure not been successful the kidney would have had to be removed, a very worrying prospect indeed.
Thankfully the procedure was successful and the kidney was saved. I can't tell you how relieved we all are. She's suffered intermitently with kidney stones sinch she was 15yrs. old, she's now 31. It is an excruciatingly painful condition and there is no known reason what causes it, other than the body producing too much calcium.

So, our darling daughter is well and happy again. I'm so relieved, apart from getting down on my knees and thanking God I am going to set about raising some money for the Kidney research Fund, via my husband's golf club friends and family.

Just thought I'd share this. My heartfelt gratitude to the Doctors knows no bounds, I really thought she was going to lose the kidney, which is a worrying prospect in one so young.

Ah well, Alls well that ends well !

Oh Happy Day....Thankyou God....Thankyou....

I am so happy for you and the family that everything worked out so well.

It is amazing the power of prayer, combined with the skill of the Medical Doctors all Heaven guided.

Thanks for that Tarf. Although I am slightly ashamed to say, I don't go to church very often but am making a special visit to the T wonderful Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool on Sunday, just to thank the Boss.
I do firmly believe in the power of prayer, even sometimes, when all hope is lost.

P.S. Iam currently trying to work some magic for Daisy re her recent post as she seemed sad about something. Looking at her site today, she is certainly posting some very funny jokes, so hopefully her sadness has passed.

Di i am so glad to hear she made it through okay and it was taken care of so efficiently...i know how worrysome it can be when a child is ill (no matter the age of the child)...you always seem to find something good to do in those situations, Di and i think it is brilliant that you are now raising money for such a worthy fund...take care my friend

Hi Lilith:
Thanks for your kind words. It's so good to see our daughter pain free and happy again.
I will mentoin the Parahypothyroidism to her. She has had lots of different tests so maybe she has been screened for that.
I hope your Daughter is well and happy...Won't be long now before she gets her results...Yikes....

Ah thanks for your kind words Mutley...It.s such a relief that this last procedure has done the trick!
Do doggies get kidney stones, I wonder?

My Alsation used to eat stones, they didn't seem to do him any harm, he died aged 14, complete with half the garden in his stomach. he ground his canine teeth down..mind you!

Hi Welshcakes, thanks for your visit and comments.
I'm just laughing at the way in which I have spelt Parathyroidism (if that too is correct), on my reply to Lilith's comment....A real 'Malapropism'.

Hello Mr Newmania and thanks for your comments:
Even when the children grow up they still give you cause for concern. Wonderful to have them though.
Our three girls are now aged 37,35 and 31yrs.
We have two beautiful grandaughters and a lovely little grandson. Just found out that middle daughter is expecting her second baby next February.

Wow! It just goes to show how important it is to value life and to eke out joy and hope out of every situation! I do hope that by now Astrid has fully recovered from the op and that she is in no more discomfort. She is very lucky to have such a lovely mother who cares so much about her X

Just dropped in from Philipa's. Wanted to say "good going," and sympathize with Astrid. I lost a kidney in my early teens to a condition that the surgeon later said could have killed me within nine months or so.

My aunt, a nurse, compared kidney pain to the pain of labour, and she'd been through both.
